Later invitations and resends
posted by Jason · Wednesday, June 28, 2006

I just wanted to let some of you know that I did have some difficulty obtaining a few of your current addresses and so if you are just now receiving an invitation, it's not because you were an afterthought. I have been trying to make contact with some of you for awhile. It's like being a detective. Kind of fun, but my novice sleuthing techniques mean that you're getting your invitations kind of last-minute. I just sent out a wave of new invites for those I've just tracked down (I hope) and those whose invitations initially were returned to us by the postal service. Thanks for your patience and understanding. We can't wait to see you all!

If you would like to contact me about this or anything else, post a comment below or send an email to jmiller(a)stablegroup.com (where the (a) stands for @).

Joy!

How exciting to be sharing this special time with all of you via the internet... I love technology, well, some of the time. The wedding plans are coming along. Details, details, details! Directing theatre has been great preparation for planning a wedding.

I read this verse the other day "As for me, I am poor and needy, but the Lord takes thought for me" (Psalm 40:17) I was struck by the thought that God had me in mind when He created Jason, what a wonder! I was overcome by the love of my Father.

Reflections on waiting
posted by Jason · Monday, June 19, 2006

I was listening to a song today which posed a provocative question. The context was a person crying out to God because she was going through a season of great difficulty. She reflected on the flowers in bloom and how God clothes them in beauty (see Matthew 6 or Luke 12). Then she considers November. Do the flowers know why they cannot bloom when they are in November? Even flowers must wait to bloom, and this is God's providence. Sometimes it is difficult to wait. We wonder why it must be so. Yet God is not inactive. He is preparing us for what only He knows awaits us. In 1 Corinthians, Paul writes:
No eye has seen,
no ear has heard,
no mind has conceived
what God has prepared for those who love him.
Isaiah contains a similar passage in chapter 64:4
From of old no one has heard
or perceived by the ear,
no eye has seen a God besides you,
who acts for those who wait for him.
Again and again in our courtship, verses like these have been a great encouragement. Even now, remembering what God has done in the times of waiting, how He has brought things about and acted on our behalf, I am deeply encouraged.

Technical issue fixed

I believe I have fixed the problem. A table alignment conflict, for those of you who are interested. If you notice any other technical problems, post a comment here and I'll take a look. / J

Technical issue with menu links - Windows / IE only

It appears that if you're viewing the weblog in Internet Explorer on a Windows machine, there seem to be some issues with the menu links to the right. If you can use another standards-compliant browser (like Mozilla/Firefox, Safari, Opera, etc.) you should be able to view things correctly. In the meantime I'll try to identify and fix the problem so that Windows/IE users will not be singled out.
For convenience here are the links that should be showing up on the right column: Main, RSVP, Storybook, Wedding Details, and Weblogs.

Website update roadmap

We intend to work on photos and our story next. We hope to complete those portions of the site later this week. We will then revisit the frequently asked questions page(s) and begin adding information about hotels and dining experiences we recommend. If you have questions or ideas that are not included yet, or you need an answer to something right away please email me or post a comment on this weblog page.

Welcome to our new weblog

I'm glad you've found us. I am trying to complete the site as soon as possible so that everyone can get the most helpful information. (To be honest, I'm still trying to get some invitations in the hands of some far-flung friends, so I hope you'll be patient with me.) Danielle and I are so excited for you to share the day with us on July 29!

I will be working on the storybook pages which will include stories and photos. I would also like to create a page where you can make comments (you may do so on this page as a start), and a page where you can sign up to get emails from us in the future. I'm a networker, so I love the idea of staying in touch with you as we continue on this adventure.

Please keep us in your prayers when you think of us. We're happy to do the same.
