On looking into John Huie, 1906
posted by Jason · Tuesday, October 17, 2006

One of the treasures we discovered in Scotland was a book of poems entitled The Singing Pilgrim by John Huie, published in 1906. We acquired the book from Blair Atholl Books, a quaint rare bookshop in the Highlands.

This exerpt is from Huie's poem, "To Christ."

O Christ, Thou art our confidence,
Thy love our rock unshaking,
From changeful things of time and sense,
From death to life awaking;
By love inspired, with hope we sing
Of Thee, our Saviour and our King.

Since we were crucified with Thee,
No more sin's burden bearing,
But sons of God redeemed and free
We walk, still homeward faring;
Thy love constraining us, we sing
Of Thee, our Saviour and our King.

It was a nice poem, Jason.
By the way, I have some good news.
